Wedding Memories Free Mini Kit

Wedding Digital Kit Freebie.

I finally finished making this Wedding Kit. First I had to make a trip to Fernwood Botanical Garden to visualize an outdoor wedding. I anticipated flowers of every genre and was pleasantly surprised with what blooms in May. The wildflowers panorama was breathtaking and the trees with balls of white flowers captivating. And the cafe served mouth watering sandwiches and strawberry torte. The gift shop had real handmade gifts and not the "made in China" stuff. I definitely recommend visiting the gardens if you’re in Southwest Michigan. I was able to use one of the photos as a background for my kit (not shown here). The weather was perfect and I’m the kind of person that likes to pick up seeds and hope that I am rewarded with a beautiful tree.

This Wedding Kit could be called "I Love You, Lover’s Lane, Happy Anniversary, or Honeymoon." This lovely romantic kit is perfect to express the beauty of a new relationship, an anniversary or just to say "I Love You" to your sweetie. All art saved JPG, PNG, 300 ppi. Complete kit comes with 12 papers, 4 lace garter photo frames, 3 romantic scenes, 1 red rose, word art Wedding Memories, Happy Anniversary, 1 heart, a set of love birds (cockatiels). Comes with instructions on how to turn your art to gray and match the color of your choice. Also comes with 1 alphabet.

Eco Friendly Free Scrapbooking Kits

Eco Friendly Free Digital Scrapbooking Kit

There were no trees chopped down, no toxic emissions produced and no fossil fuels being depleted.

This theme park inspired digital scrapbooking kit was created after I visited Binder Park Zoo in Michigan and I had so much fun taking photos and making the African Digital Scrapbooking Kit that I convinced my husband to take a trip to Florida to visit Busch Gardens. I recreated the signs to make photo frames or places to add titles, the papers are more subtle on the preview. We also went to Hillsborough River State Park where I got photos of palmetto fronds and the branches. The other places I visited were Caladesi Island that was gorgeous but cold for October, later we went to Homosassa Springs. The Wildlife Park is a definite go see for pelicans, alligators, manatee, bulls, flamingos and much more. Definitely take the boat over from the main office, you’ll see alligators, herons, mossed covered trees and more.

For a limited time just click on the photo above and it will take you to the kit. You will have to log in and then check out as a free shopper and download your kit.

Easy Color Matching Photoshop Tutorial

Easy Color Matching Click on this link to display.

I am working on getting the kinks out of displaying a video.

First of all, I spent half the day trying to turn a WMV file into a compatible MP4. A lot of stuff out there and none is very clear. After downloading 5 programs that were supposed to do these things I found this one called AVSVideoConverter that did a really great job and had a lot of useful features but I wasn’t ready to pay the $50 for it to make one file so that is why the logo is centered in the middle of the video. I recently posted the same information on my other blog with screen shots but it wasn’t very clear so I was hoping after adding a few plugins that I would be able to add a video clip. Let me know if this is something that you would like to see more of.

17th Century Dutch Tile Design

April 4th, 2009 by Celinda
Respond

Recently, I’ve been working on recreating 17th Century Tiles to put into a Digital Scrapbooking Kit. I was surprised to find the library had many books on ceramic tiles. I was specifically looking for art that lends itself to background papers without being too busy.

I was searching for alphabets, motifs and symbols. There are lots of different places to find ideas. Wooden Signs, Cake Decorator Motifs, How To books. Looking through an old black and white book on tiles I found this corner that looked like this.

And with a little manipulation and the right colors I ended up with the pattern below. This rendition is really bright, specifically eye-catching for the web but I plan to have other papers that are lighter.

You may copy the image below but…

You must make a comment about whether this kind of art is something that scrapbookers or designers would like to see more of.

17th Century Dutch Tile Design 72×72 pixels.
Makes an interesting desktop pattern.

I currently have some international kits that seem to be fairly popular and my favorite: African Digital Scrapbooking Kit is a top seller. I would like to offer more international kits but I don’t know which country has the most interest.

So, scrapbookers and other interested individuals, help me out here and let me know what kind of art that you find most appealing.

Thanks for reading.

Celinda

PS: Chrissy has informed me that she is planning on making some more digital scrapbook kits. In case you were wondering where she’s been, she’s been training for a marathon. She’s one incredibly smart girl with a lot on her plate and she’s looking really good.

Easy How to make Gingham in Photoshop

Easy How to Make Gingham Using Photoshop

You can copy the below sample that I have already created or you can make your own.

To make your own, open a new page that is 150 pixels by 150 pixels on a white background. The top color will be the darkest, the other 2 colors will be 50 percent lighter than your dark color. You can adjust the lightness under Hue Saturation. Control U on the PC, Command U on the Mac. The bottom right square is white. The divided squares need to be exactly 75 pixels by 75 pixels and must line up straight.

Take the tile that you have made or use the one above, do a Select all, (Command A on the Mac, Control A ont he PC) go to Define Pattern, save to patterns.

Close your file.

Create a new document 3600 pixels by 3600 pixels or whatever size that you need.

Next you will need to turn the background to Layer so that you can add your pattern. Click on the white area and it will convert to a Layer 0.

Select Layer from the pull down. Select Layer Style. Select Pattern. The pattern will be at the end of the patterns that are already loaded. Select the gingham and then decide how big or small that you want your gingham to be on the page.

Flatten the Image. With the above orange gingham you can make thousands of different color combinations by going to Hue/Saturation. Slide the top slider for new colors, the middle sliders to neutralize or add more, and the bottom slider to lighten.

If you want your gingham to have a fabric look and you are using Photoshop CS1 and above download the Weave style here: WEAVE

Click on the asl file and it will load into your Styles Palette.

To apply the Herringbone weave you will have to convert the file to Layer see above. Then go to your Styles Palette under Window and choose the Herringbone weave. Herringbone weave comes with Photoshop.

If you are not using Photoshop CS1 or above you will need to find a comparable weave and apply settings based on this information. The weave works with Bevel and Emboss.

Once you have added the texture you may want to change the color under multiply, especially if you are using a pastel color like pink and don’t want a brown cast over you pink. You may want to adjust the scale of the pattern to fit the size of your fabric.

After you have added your texture your file will now look like this.

Spring is in the Air!

March 18th, 2009 by Celinda
Respond

Making a Spring Digital Scrapbooking Kit was a journey that took me from the library to dumpster diving for free magazines in the recycle bins. Yeah, that was me going through the bins trying to find ideas while my husband turned his head the other way. Some mother that had outgrown her Girl Scout’s Troop and had thrown a bunch of craft ideas in there and I swooped them up. Then while shopping with my son I convinced him to go into an antique store with me and I found some how to paint magazines from the eighties. You should probably know that I am not an artist, can’t paint, can’t draw and not very good with doodling. However, I can make doodles on the computer and I can turn some old black and white art into new vibrant colored art.

Because I have experience with printing newspapers, I have a good grasp of what prints well and what doesn’t. Sometimes big solid colors and big type are more eye catching than detail. A lot of the art I create is clipart using solid colors and gradients. I found that painting in Photoshop for me is like working with a Sharpie marker and faux painting doesn’t look like faux when I do it and my stamping ability leaves a lot to be desired. My love for Illustrator keeps me bending curves and reshaping flowers, leaves and letters to make something that I can add “WOW” to in Photoshop.

All winter long I’ve been feeding the birds and I wanted my Spring Kit to feature feathered friends. The flowers are no where near coming up around here and I have focused this kit around cross stitch design, birds and butterflies. I really love the look of cross stitched embroidery and making it on the computer saves money on threads, needles and fabric and it adds a homespun look to a background.

I hope you find this Spring Digital Art cheerful and tell everyone you found it at alittledigital.com

I was recently asked what font I used for the word Spring. I believe this is a Microsoft font. It is called Harrington.
