14th Anniversary Las Vegas

Happy 14th Anniversary Patty & Kelly

Patty and Kelly celebrated 14 years of marriage on September 23, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This was a well deserved vacation for my daughter and her family. Patty is one of the original founders of justmommies.com and they have 4 children. While there, the children played in the pool, bowled, watched a few movies and went to the Springs Preserve and played in the sand, water, a train, a big snake and climbed the rock walls. My daughter and her husband enjoyed some quality time at the casino where she enjoyed a few Mohitos
and Kelly tried his hand at the slot machines.

The scrapbook page was designed around the colors at the South Point Casino. I created a background from the hotel’s wallpaper. I used the lovebirds from the wedding kit, an ivy border from the borders kit, and I used dissolved strokes to outline the type in a bright aqua.

While I was in Nevada I rented a car and drove to Bryce Canyon to see the Hoodoos, Red Canyon and Zion National Park. Below is a photo of an Ent at Bellagios.

Sand and Sea, Fire and Moonlight

Aimlessly, without direction, the blaze follows the smoke into the darkening skies.
Some caught fish, a few apples and a liter of Chianti,
Saltwater and surf, in the distance a seagull cries.
A ship discerned on the horizon is squaring the sun gallantly.
Polaroid lenses reflect a sojourn glance of watchful eyes.

Observing a sunny disposition in a dress of soft blue,
And an eager hand that just may not be tempered
To resist temptation as to the likes of you.
This moment is now, as yet, undisturbed.
But turn your head so, and change the view.

The current sways back and forth waltzing across bare skin
Your body is mine to dance this next song.
Around and around, undulating over again
Just two lovers in the moonlight, it can’t be wrong.
Only a propitious heavenly sin.

The eyes of the night, a starry expanse.
The moon an amulet, I’d buy it for you.
A rocket to Mars, a pretend trip to France.
A ride on an elephant or a bicycle for two.
The night is young and awaits romance.

My little garden above is my very first real vegetable growing adventure. In the spring it was cold. And then it rained and was cold and it rained and I didn’t start the plants early enough indoors. When I was making the Champion Horse Kit I was able to get a truck load of horse manure to add to the sandy dirt that we have. The tomatoes, the okra, the beets and the cucumbers, plus the beans are doing okay. And guess what it’s raining again. The pear tree might have one pear on it. It rained so much in the spring that it washed off all the flowers. We had tons of wild black raspberries and they made yummy jelly.

In the beginning there was an idea to create Sunday School Digital Scrapbooking Kits. With the thought in my head I checked out a stack of children’s Bible Stories. ThenI started thinking about Noah’s Ark and how many animals that I would have to draw. I knew then that this was way over my head. How was Jonah and the whale going to look with a child’s head peering out of the whale’s mouth. And what about the great flood or the plagues how was that going to look with a child’s photo. It seemed kind of scary. With that in mind, I focused on the Garden of Eden and more of what paradise might be like.

This took me 3 weeks to do. This is a smaller kit. The more I worked on it the more work it became. Trying to get the colors to match, the concept to work with the elements. Below is the poem that is written inside the apple above. If you would like to use this poem just make sure my name is listed.

The Garden of Life

The garden of life shelters many surprises,
It yields an abundance of colorful shapes and sizes.

Our perspectives once dimmed by the sands of time,
Our journey through life so far to climb.

The sun passed over my bed of flowers,
And brightened my day for many hours.

Come to me in joy, come to me in sorrow,
You’ve given me hope, let me give you tomorrow.

Recession Depression

August 9th, 2009 by Celinda
Respond

Has the recession affected your household?

I was reading another designer’s blog and decided that maybe I should put my two cents in about the state of the economy and what it has done for me. My full time job was reduced to 36 hours a week back in February and has yet to return. Many people were let go. My husband who is in the housing industry has seen his business come to a screeching halt.

This blog, my email and my website is constantly being bombarded with gmail.com addresses trying to sell me viagara, cialis or extenze. I’m over 50, do you think I need anything enlarged? The only thing I need enlarged is my bank account. Are these people making money off of this? Maybe I’m in the wrong business.

In my spare time I work on scrapbook art. I spend way too much time sitting and this has affected my overall health. But what should I do? Can I get another job? Maybe, but I would have to move to another state. And have you seen the housing market? How long would it take to sell a home? So, when you come to my site and there’s things that you like but not what you’re looking for, feel free to share my web address with anyone that is interested in scrapbooking.

Explorer Camping Kit

Explorer Camping Kit

When my daughters were little I occassionally took them camping. They were city girls and their knowledge of hiking and exploring were limited. While camping at Palomar Mtn. in California we sat in on one of the fireside chats with the local park ranger. He told us a true story about a young boy who had gotten lost in the woods in the winter time and had frozen to death. The father went to search for him and also lost his way and froze too. We were camping in the summer and it was well over 90 degrees.

The next day we were hiking down a trail and I’m the kind of person that likes to wander off away from the path. One of my daughters looked at me tearfully and said, "we want to get back on the trail so we don’t get lost and freeze to death."

Another camping trip I was gleefully tramping through the woods and I told my daughters that I was Joe Trailblazer and the reply was, "Does that mean that we’re little travel trailers?"

Camping is always an adventure for me. Making this scrapbook kit has taken a lot longer because I had to stop and smell the wild roses, pick raspberries and get purple fingers. I got to feed the mosquitoes, listen to rain on the roof, smell burning wood, race the dog with my bike, watch hummingbirds, turkeys, raccoons, gopher and deer from different vantage points. Along the bike paths I picked up an osprey feather, photographed a blue heron, looked at a catfish that a young fellow had caught, photographed a centipede, and a snake and frog at the Nature Center.

A trip to the General Store yielded ice cream and an opportunity to photograph a dragonfly. Don’t know what kind it is and if you know then let me know.

Happy Campers when you get ready to start your new page, go ahead and add some leaves, feathers and put your memories on to a page that says, "I love camping," with a camping kit from http://www.alittledigital.com

Not included is a woodsey alphabet that you might like.

Horse Digital Scrapbooking Kit

Respond

Western fans and horse lovers, here’s a digital scrapbooking kit that will have all you mustangs, pintos, thouroughbreds and paints bursting out of the corral and chomping at the bit to try out these new digital goodies right out the feed bag.

For a limited time download a free mini kit of the: Champion Horse Mini Digital Scrapbooking Kit

You must see the whole kit to appreciate all the bits and pieces.

For the complete kit go to: Champion Horse Digital Scrapbooking Kit

Champion Horse Digital Scrapbooking Kit. Gee, this kit has so many elements and papers that I had to fit it on to two pages to display it all. This kit will Trigger your love of horses. This painted variety includes tack, horse groomers, oats, horse shoes, a bit, a spur, saddles, horse feathers and more. Whoa! Hold on their little dogie.

There’s papers 12×12 at 300ppi adding up to 15. These papers are totally unique. Two are made using sisal twine, 4 are paisley bandanas, 1 is made from bales of hay, there’s a blue and white horse blanket, 5 are using a design that I pulled off a cowboy shirt and my very favorite are the two that started out as pony tail elastic hair bands. You’ll be winnying once you take a look at what’s in this corral to take out for a gallop.

Black Beauty will be ready to giddy up with a British saddle or Western saddle. Several lariats to rope your little Palomino or a nice brush to smooth those horse feathers. Huh! There’s no such thing as horse feathers.

Silver sheriff star for the Mustang rider, belt buckles, cowboy hats and boots, reins, wooden sign, bolo tie with silver saddle, silhouettes of two horses and 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place ribbons for the winning Champion.

There are several unique photo frames one made with oats, the other using a cowboy design, plus a fence to use as a photo frame and two ropes.
